Liverpool conclude their qualifying programme with a visit t Tranmere Rovers at Prenton Park, and hope to have their Scottish internationals, Billy Liddell and Jim Harley, back on duty. It is expected that Cumner, the Arsenal Welsh international, will be available again, and Hinsley, of Bradford City, will be okay.
Don Welsh, of course, is due to go to Stoke to play for the Western Command, a match also claiming Tommy Lawton, of Everton, but Liverpool will have plenty of talent available.
The Rovers will need to find a centre-forward, for Everton will require the services of Cec Wyles. Kieran comes back to left back for Hornby.
