Key note: “Liverpool and Everton met for the third time in ten days yesterday, when 22,815 spectators saw the latter gain revenge for their two League Cup defeats by winning 3-1, at Anfield in the Liverpool Senior Cup semi-final. There was no gainsaying that, on the play Everton deserved their victory even though they had two unusual slices of luck. These were two gift goals scored in the first half by Jackson and Grant, which should have been saved by the home goalkeeper.” (Liverpool Daily Post: April 3, 1945)
