Liverpool have both forward and defensive doubts for their cup visit to Manchester City at Maine Road on Saturday consequent on the calling of Matt Busby, Billy Liddell and Jim Harley for international duty. However, Berry Nieuwenhuys sends word that his thigh injury has yielded to treatment and that he is almost certain to be fit.
If the FA will release Don Welsh, Liverpool will be happy, and that is a possibility. One defensive position – right back – is causing Manager Mr. George Kay some concern. Blackburn Rovers may release Jack Westby, if not I am certain Everton would be only too pleased to loan either Jack Jones or George Curwen, neither of whom is “cup-tied.”
