Big rush for Anfield tickets

April 18, 1945
There was a big run on the tickets for Liverpool’s cup-tie with Chesterfield due for Anfield on Saturday, and early application is advised to avoid disappointment. Although no seats are being reserved individually a seat is guaranteed with every ticket. Chesterfield are co-operating with Liverpool regarding the return game at the Recreation Ground on April 28.

A limited number of reserved tickets have been forwarded by Mr. Norman Bullock for Merseyside enthusiasts and these may be obtained by postal application to the Liverpool Club. The prices are 3s. 6d. and 2s. 9d, and letters, containing correct money and stamped-addressed envelope should be marked, “Cup-tie, April 28.” This will prevent confusion with ticket applications for Saturday’s game.

Manager Mr. George Kay has nothing definite regarding his team as yet, but those available include Alf Hobson, Jeff Gulliver, Harry Kaye, Laurie Hughes, Jack Pilling, Jack Campbell, Phil Taylor and Harry Eastham.
