April 30, 1945
Keen interest is being taken in Wednesday evening’s match at Goodison Park between a combined Everton and Liverpool eleven and the Western Command. Mr. Theo Kelly and Liverpool manager Mr. George Kay got together yesterday afternoon and selected the following “Liverton” team which looks exceptional good:

George Burnett (Everton), George Jackson (Everton), Jeff Gulliver (Liverpool), Harry Kaye (Liverpool), Laurie Hughes (Liverpool), Gordon Watson (Everton), Jack Campbell (Liverpool), Stan Bentham (Everton), Cec Wyles (Everton), Phil Taylor (Liverpool), Wally Boyes (Everton).

Reserves: Jack Pilling and Les Shannon (Liverpool), Norman Greenhalgh (Everton).
