Captain Alex Smith, a former player with Buckie Thistle pre-war before signing for Liverpool, took over from Rome Tocher as manager of Buckie Thistle . Tocher had been manager since the Thistle were revived after the war by the Buckie Welfare Society.
Alex Smith was badly wounded while serving in Burma and suffered the loss of a leg which obviously ended his footballing career. He will be remembered, however, still playing cricket for Buckie with a runner to claim runs.
