An attempt to rob Liverpool Football Club

January 24, 1947
A plan to rob Liverpool Football Club with hopes of a haul of £4,000 after the Boxing Day match was alleged at Liverpool to-day.

Stephen McNamee (20), David Power (22), and John Cyril Milrae (29), all of no fixed address, were accused of conspiring to break into the office and steal property.

It was alleged that when questioned they admitted having planned to break into the office. On one of them was a detailed plan of the ground showing the best way to approach it.

The prosecuting solicitor stated that as a matter of fact the office was entered on Boxing Night. The safe was blown open and £72, left in the safe, was stolen. Strangely enough the thieves had gained access in the manner shown on this plan.

The three men, all of whom made denials when charged, were remanded until January 28th.
