Bernard Ramsden, Liverpool F.C.’s £8,000 full back, has gone to America to marry Miss Audrey Clark of New York, whom he met as a sequel to saving the life of one of her relatives.
After resending the relative in Greece, Bernard was told by the family: “Call on us whenever you are near New York.”
He got his chance when he toured America with Liverpool during the last close season. He told friends before he left that he has finished with football.
“I intend to take an offer I have had of an interest in a flourist’s business in New York,” he said.
Ramsden, 29, a Sheffield man, signed for Liverpool twelve years ago.
