Liverpool F.C. to-day signed Doug McAvoy, Kilmarnock inside forward. McAvoy is the player Mr. George Kay, Liverpool manager, saw in action last Saturday when he left Newcastle after failing to do business with Newcastle United for Roy Bentley, inside forward placed on the open to transfer list at his own request.

Liverpool have come to terms with Kilmarnock for the transfer of Doug McAvoy, the Scottish club’s inside left, who is expected to complete the deal by signing to-day. A fee of several thousand pound is involved. McAvoy is twenty-nine.

Liverpool’s interest in Roy Bentley, the Newcastle United inside forward, has declined with the transaction for McAvoy. They have told Newcastle that they are not prepared to transfer Ray Lambert, Welsh international full back, for whom a substantial offer was made by United.
