The death of Canon W.H. Ainger

The death took place on Tuesday of Canon Walter Henry Ainger in his 84th year. Until 1939, when he resigned owing to ill health, he was Vicar at Englingham, where he hd been since 1924. His father was for many years Rector at Rothbury and an original member of Rothbury Football Club. Canon Ainger played for Cambridge University and for the Corinthians and was an international inside-left. He held curacies in Norfolk, and Newcastle, and in 1902 was appointed vicar of Prudhoe and later was at Gosforth and Haydon Bridge.
