** NOTE: According to the Football League Ledger books William Donnelly signed for Liverpool in early January 1895. Still it was reported again in May 1896 that Liverpool had signed Donnelly from Clyde. Liverpool could have made a deal with his club in January, 1895 (Hibs) that, LFC, as an English club, had first right to his transfer across the border. This is just speculation on my part. I have double-checked the Ledger entry, and he is clearly registered under the 1894/95 season.
