Queen of the South seeking Doug McAvoy

September 15, 1949
Officials of Queen of the South arrived in Liverpool to-day to begin negotiations for the transfer of Doug McAvoy, Liverpool’s Scottish inside forward who formerly played for Kilmarnock.
They met George Kay, Liverpool manager, and directors. It is expected the transfer deal will be completed later to-day.
McAvoy recently asked to be put on the transfer list because he wishes to return to Scotland. He was signed by Liverpool in December 1947 at a fee of about £7,000. He has made several appearances in the first team, but has figured chiefly in the Central League side.
