A long flight to Anfield

Saturday, January 7 – 1950
Mr. Alexander Gordon Shennan, fifty-year-old Chicago businessman has flown 4000 miles across the Atlantic to see Liverpool play Blackburn Rovers in the FA Cup.

His first question to the receptionist at his Liverpool hotel when he got there last night was: “Has my ticket arrived?”

Calls were put through to Liverpool F.C. directors, and just before midnight Mr. Shennan was told his ticket had been reserved.

“They sure had me worried,” said Mr. Shennan. “Now I can relax and get myself ready for the big game.”
