Footballer’s bride at Eccleston
Mr. Charles Ashcroft, Liverpool F.C. goalkeeper and the eldest son of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Arthur Ashcroft, of View Street, Parr Lane, Eccleston, near Chorley, was married at st. Mary’s Church, Eccleston, on Saturday, to Miss Hilda Thompson, only daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Thompson, of View Street, Parr Lane, Eccleston.

The service was conducted by the Rev. B.H. Lord, of Mawdesley.

Given away by her father, the bride wore a ballerina-length gown of broderie Anglaise over taffets, and carried a bouquet of roses, lily of the valley, and stephanotis.

Her bridesmaids were Miss Dorothy Crook (friend) and Miss Jacqueline Sowman (cousin) and Mr. Terence Ashcroft (bridegroom’s brother) was best man.
