Liverpool make five changes

September 9, 1954
For Saturday’s visit to Blackburn, Liverpool make five changes. Wilkinson moves from right-half to inside-right, with Anderson on the wing, as both Jimmy Payne and Brian Jackson are unfit. Billy Liddell leads the attack in place of Arnell with A’Court playing his first game this season at outside-left. Saunders, who comes in at right half, also appears for the first time during this campaign.

Blackburn hope to field an unchanged eleven for the sixth time in seven games, but one or two players have minor knocks following their game at Derby yesterday evening, and selection has been deferred for the present.

Liverpool. – Dave Underwood, Tom McNulty, Frank Lock, Roy Saunders, Laurie Hughes, Geoff Twentyman, Eric Anderson, Barry Wilkinson, Billy Liddell, John Evans, Alan A’Court.
