Sixteen players to have special three-day training spell
Sixteen Liverpool players will leave at mid-day to-morrow for three days special training at a Lincolnshire inland spa in readiness for their third round cup-tie against Lincoln City on Saturday.
In addition to the eleven who defeated Derby County on Saturday, the party will be augmented by Tom McNulty, Jimmy Payne, Alan Arnell, Alex South and Eric Anderson.
Barry Wilkinson is unable to get RAF leave and Alan A’Court is ruled out through his attack of chickenpox. South will be the only man in the party who has not had first team experience.
The club’s headquarters are not being made public but they are within an hour’s coach run of Lincoln’s ground. The team will be chosen on Tuesday evening.
Dave Underwood has not, as reported elsewhere, asked to be taken off Liverpool’s open-to-transfer list. For the same domestic reason as inspired his original request, which was his wife’s health, he’s still desirous of returning South. So far, however, inquiries have been few and there has been no firm offer.
