The three close-season newcomers to Liverpool’s staff will be on view in Saturday’s public practice match, all of them in the probable reserve XI. They are John Molyneux, ex-Chester; Les Robson, formerly of Darlington, and Healy, the Leyton inside forward who is on trial.
Two absentees in the senior XI will be Billy Liddell, on duty for Great Britain in the Belfast international against the Rest of Europe, and Roy Saunders, who is having treatment for minor indisposition, but is expected to be fit again by next week.
Barry Wilkinson, who has spent almost all his RAF leave in training, is at right half. Due to be demobilised in another couple of months the former Bishop Auckland amateur is determined to make a big bid at staking a claim to seniority this coming campaign.
The teams for Saturday will be: –
Reds. – Doug Rudham; Ray Lambert, Ronnie Moran; Barry Wilkinson, Laurie Hughes, Geoff Twentyman; Brian Jackson, Eric Anderson, Alan Arnell, John Evans, Alan A’Court.
Whites. – Dave Underwood; John Molyneux, Fred Perry, Bobby Campbell, Alex South, Don Campbell; Jimmy Payne, Tony Rowley, Louis Bimpson, Derek Healy, Les Robson.
