Liverpool v Hull City 3-0 (League match: August 27, 1955)

August 27, 1955
Key note: “Liverpool were comfortable winners, and on this showing Arnell promises to fill the breach satisfactorily while Evans is absent. Payne also improved the right flank, and the forward line as a whole was nicely balanced. With a little more luck it might have got more goals. Hull had their misfortunes for the first goal was a ‘gift’ though a Berry slip and Moran once kicked off the line to save Liverpool. Hull’s four enforced changes were a big handicap, but to their credit they never gave up trying.” (Liverpool Echo: August 27, 1955)
