Until Liverpool join Everton in the top sphere our Liverton “derby” games are necessarily limited to Central League encounters. The first of these takes place at Goodison on Saturday, when Liverpool, who have suffered only one defeat in nine matches which have brought them 14 points, meet an Everton eleven which has not yet been beaten in eight engagements, from which they have extracted 12 points.
Whether Everton will still be unbeaten when the pair meet depends on how the Blues fare this evening, when they meet Manchester United Reserves at Goodison Park (5.40) for which the side will be:
Harry Leyland, John Sutherland, George Rankin, Ken Birch, Matt Woods, Les Melville, Jack Grant, Eddie Thomas, Ron Saunders, Gwyn Lewis, Derek Mayers.
For Saturday’s fixture the Liverpool Reserve eleven will be:
Doug Underwood, John Parry, Gerry Byrne, Bobby Campbell, Alex South, Don Campbell, Brian Jackson, Derek Healy, Tony Rowley, Joe Dickson, Tom Scocings.
