Mr. William John Harrop, chairman of Liverpool Football Club, died at his home in Marlborough Road, Liverpool, early yesterday at the age of 76.
He was senior vice-president of the Football League, a member of the Football Association, and chairman of the FA Challenge Cup Committee. He refused the presidency of the League to devote himself to getting the Liverpool club back into the First Division.
Mr. Harrop was taken ill immediately after his return from London, where he saw the club’s team drawn for pairing in the sixth round of the FA Cup.
He was an estate agent and formerly an alderman of Liverpool City Council.
