One notable absentee from the Liverpool game is Roy Saunders, who is suffering from bruised ribs during training. He is expected to be fit for the start of the season proper. Younger, formerly of Hibs, is making his bow to the Anfield public.
Reds. – Tommy Younger, John Molyneux, Ronnie Moran, Barry Wilkinson, Laurie Hughes, Geoff Twentyman, Brian Jackson, Tony Rowley, Billy Liddell, John Evans, Alan A’Court.
Whites. – Doug Rudham, Tom McNulty, Gerry Byrne, Bobby Campbell, Dick White, Alex South, Louis Bimpson, Eric Anderson, Alan Arnell, Joe Dickson, Con Phillips.
Changes to be made at half-time will be the introduction of John Arkwright, John Price, Keith Burkinshaw, Don Campbell and David Kerr in place of Rudham, Byrne, Bobby Campbell, South and Dickson in the Whites. The Reds will be unchanged.
Burkinshaw is now out of the Forces and started full-time training yesterday.
