Liverpool have appointed Joe Fagan, a former captain of Manchester City, as an assistant-trainer in succession to Dick Dorsett, who left Anfield some time ago. Fagan, native of Liverpool, played for Lancashire and Liverpool schoolboy teams, and later for Earlestown Bohemians, before signing for Manchester City just before the war, at the age of 17. After several years’ splendid post-war service at Maine Road as a centre-half he went to Bradford, then had a year as manager-coach to Nelson, and for the past two seasons has been first-team trainer with Rochdale. He takes up his duties at Anfield at the beginning of next month.
