Tommy Younger and Bert Slater in player-exchange deal

Liverpool’s giant Scottish international ‘keeper, Tommy Younger, left the club yesterday to go back “home” as player-manager of Falkirk.

In return Liverpool get the Scottish club’s Under-23 International Bert Slater.

The deal – a straight swap – was one of the best kept Soccer secrets for years. Even Younger had no idea of a transfer when he was called to meet manager Phil Taylor yesterday.

Last night he said: “It came as a complete surprise. I didn’t want to leave Anfield.
“But I thought it was up to me to look after my future.”
