Ian St. John turned down Bolton Wanderers

August 29, 1959
Bolton’s troubled boss Bill Ridding arrived home at three yesterday morning after watching Northampton’s 6ft leader Derek Leck score twice against Torquay.

Rocked by two defeats and a critical ankle injury to centre forward Nat Lofthouse, Ridding also has had his scout’s approach Dundee for Alan Cousin and Motherwell for Ian St. John.

But last night Ridding acknowledged failure in his triple quest and prepared to start hunting again this week-end for a second Lofthouse.
