This morning Everton’s fiery centre forward Dave Hickson signs for City rivals Liverpool. Fee: about £12,000, so Everton will have made a profit of £25,000 on the player.

This is 28 year-old local boy Hickson’s fourth move. He first left Everton in 1955 for Aston Villa at a £20,000 fee, and moved to Huddersfield three months later for £16,000. He rejoined Everton in 1957 for £6,500.
