Liverpool players’ burgled in USA

May 30, 1964
League champions Liverpool, now touring the United States, have been burgled again. Alf Arrowsmith and Tommy Lawrence woke in their Chicago hotel room on Saturday morning to find that almost all their belongings had been stolen while were asleep.
Only three weeks ago, Ronnie Yeats and Ian St. John had cameras and other articles worth about £200 taken from their hotel in New York.
Arrowsmith, in San Francisco with the rest of the team, now possesses only his club suit and a pair of football boots.
He and Lawrence lost about £50 each in English money, 100 American dollars, passports and air tickets.
Arrowsmith’s suitcase, containing clothes and presents was locked. The thief did not try to force it – he took it with him.
