Gordon Milne, 12 times an England cap, went on Liverpool’s transfer list last night as manager Bill Shankly launched a Soccer sales spree. Also listed: Geoff Strong, £40,000 signing from Arsenal in November 1964.
Shankly has told all League clubs he is ready to sell 12 players. Seven have had first team experience – Milne, Strong, Phil Chisnall, goalkeepers John Ogston and Bill Molyneux, wingers Gordon Wallace and Bobby Graham.
This drastic slashing of the wage bill indicate even more big Liverpool signings during the summer.
