Eagerly awaiting the arrival in Las Palmas of the Liverpool football team who play against the local side there on May 29, is Mr. Rollie Formby, who lives in Las Palmas.
He and his wife retired not long ago after years of working together as secretary and superintendent of the Queen Victoria Nursing Service in Princes Road, Liverpool. They decided to settle down in the sunshine of the Canaries. Rollie is near life-long supporter of Liverpool F.C. and he has sent me a colour photograph showing the Las Palmas stadium where the game is to be played.
He writes: “The ground capacity is about 30,000, but at least double that number manage to get a free view of all the matches from adjoining roof-tops, skyscrapers and sand hills.”
Rollie is looking forward to meeting the Liverpool player and officials and is hoping the Reds show the Spanish fans once again how top-class soccer is played in England.
