There was no score at half-time.
Liverpool opened the scoring in the 51st minute and Las Palmas equalised in the 59th minute.
Roared on by 25,000 fans in their Peninsula Stadium Las Palmas relied on brilliant dribbling as they attacked up the centre.
Liverpool always looked the most threatening near the goalmouth.
Liverpool went ahead six minutes after the interval when left winger Graham beat several men and centred to right back steadied, and slammed till Lawler who took the ball, into the back of the net.
But in the 59th minute Las Palmas equalised through outside right Leon.
