Luton Town have made a bid of around £40,000 for Coventry striker Tony Hateley. I understand Coventry are not ready to part for less than £60,000. Te Sky Blues paid Liverpool around £80,000 for him.
Hateley, who scored 23 goals in 11 matches during the FA summer your of Australasia, has so far netted £300,000 in moves that have taken him on the football roundabout with Notts County, Aston Villa, Chelsea, Liverpool, and Coventry. His share of the cash exchanged is conservatively estimated at about £13,000.
Noel Cantwell, Coventry chief, said last night: “Luton are very interested in Hateley but I shall not consider any deal until the mentioned fee is increased.”
