Take a good look at this sign – because it’s probably the last time you will see it, if you’re a regular visitor to Anfield. After the best part of 50 years, the sign will be gone, when the fans make their way into the ground for the big kick-off.
Times change … and the massive alterations which have been going on throughout the close season at Anfield will ensure that there is a new look, for the 1970-71 season. A new look, a new stand … and the old sign gone for good.
Sad, in a sentimental way … but that’s progress.
