Bill Shankly switched his attention from Cup Final opponents Arsenal to lowly Scunthorpe yesterday and bought the Fourth Division club’s midfield player Kevin Keegan, for £35,000.
Keegan, 20, has been the target for a lot of clubs and Shankly said: “We have had him watched for nine months by the same man who watched John Toshack. He is our type of player. He tries without being told to.”
Four years ago Shankly bought goalkeeper Ray Clemence from Scunthorpe.

Was it not King Kenny sold Kevin Keegan off after about 7 years sadly 😦 ?
Hi Liz,
After Keegan was sold Dalglish was brought in as his replacement. Media said we were after Liam Brady, Mike Channon and Trevor Francis, but Paisley wanted Dalglish and got him in August, just before the Charity Shield game. As Keegan, Dalglih was 26 years old.
