East Fife’s board are to meet tonight to discuss a replacement for Frank Christie, who resigned his manager’s post at the weekend.
The Bayview club have already decided that they will switch from a full-time manager to a part-timer.
Jimmy Bonthrone, offered the club’s post of managing director a year ago following his resignation as manager of Aberdeen, is one name being closely linked with the vacancy.
However, the Fifers’ assistant manager, Quinton Young, long-serving players Ernie McGarr and Davie Clarke, and Christie’s former East Fife team-mate of the ‘fifties, Danny McLennan, have also been mentioned as possible.
East Fife’s chairman Jim Baxter, stated yesterday that the board would not rush into a decision. An appointment is unlikely before the end of the week.
Christie himself will be at Bayview this morning to clear out his office. He repeated yesterday that his decision to resign was “a matter of conscience.”
