Record-breaker Ray Clemence

December 10, 1977
In all the excitement of Liverpool’s superb display against Hamburg, and the drama of Kevin Keegan’s return to Anfield. I don’t think enough was said or written about Ray Clemence. On that night, the great Liverpool and England goalkeeper broke Chris Lawler’s longstanding record of 315 consecutive competition appearances for Liverpool. Well done, Ray!

Today was Ray’s 317th on the run … and he showed a week ago against West Ham that he has never been in better form after a few below par games by his own sky-high standards.
