Arsenal last night failed in an 11th hour bud to snatch Ronny Rosenthal away from champions Liverpool. The Israeli international rejected the Highbury move to finally achieve his dream of signing for Liverpool in a £1 million package.

“I have waited a long time for this … it is my happiest moment in football,” said the 26-year-old striker.

Rosethal’s fee is around £650,000 and his three-years contract witll push Liverpool’s iutlay to £1 million for the exciting raider, who rifled seven goals in five starts.
Arsenal’s intervention could have netted his club Standard Liege a much bigger transfer jackpot.

But Rosenthal, who flew back from Belgium yesterday after three days’ talks with Liege, was insistent that he only wanted to play for Liverpool.
