Norman Low, a centre half who played 13 games for Liverpool during the 1930s and guested with both Reds and Everton during wartime football, has died in Canada at the age of 80.

Low, whose father Wilf was a Scottish international, joined Liverpool from Newport County in 1936. He played for Norwich from 1946 – 50 and managed that club from May 1950 until April 1955.

He later managed Workington and Port Vale, before returning to Anfield as chief scout from 1965 until 1967, when he migrated to America.

Low married Lil Tarleton, sister of the great Liverpool boxer Nel Tarleton.
