Liverpool manager Gerard Houllier is poised to beat Manchester United for the signature of French sensation Anthony Le Tallec. United, Valencia and Fiorentina are among clubs chasing the 17-year-old Le Havre midfielder, who has been dubbed the new Michel Platini.
But Le Tallec is expected to snub them all by linking up with former France chief Houllier at Anfield in a £2,2 million deal. “He is a player we are looking at and are interested in, but there is a lot of interest from other clubs,” said Houllier.
Le Tallec arrival on Merseyside could pave the way for Le Havre to become a feeder club to Liverpool. They have produced some of the finest young players in France and Houllier is keen on his cup-treble winners to benefit.
