Liverpool could become embrolled in a row over where they play the first leg of their Champions League third-qualifying round tie if Israeli side Maccabi Haifa beat Haka of Finland, to set up a showdown against the UEFA Cup holders.
Liverpool are innocent bystanders of a growing problem in the northern port city of Haifa.
The club want to switch the match to the national stadium in Tel Aviv, but the local mayor wants the game played on Maccabi’s smaller home ground.
Maccabi have a 1-0 lead and play the second leg at their 17,000-capacity stadium tonight.
