For the first time in the history of the club Liverpool are to sell season tickets for the paddock and ground (Anfield Road and the Kop) for next season. This move, which has been in use at many League grounds, including Everton, for several years, has been discussed by the Liverpool directors frequently in the past.
The decision to go ahead with it now is because the installation of the computer which checks the numbers entering the ground through each turnstile has been very successful.
Prices of tickets will be:
* Paddock: Five guineas;
* Ground: Four guineas.
Season ticket holders will use their own turnstiles, but the paddock and ground terracing will not be “penned” in any way for their special use.
Tickets will admit holders to all home League games and Central League matches. The club asks me to emphasise that holders of these tickets will not be entitled to any priority for Cup-tie tickets for matches at Anfield or away ties. Application should be made immediately by post only, to the club offices, enclosing correct remittance and stamped addressed envelope.
Tickets will be issued in strict order or receipt of application, and supporters should state if they are prepared to accept a ticket for an alternative section if necessary.
Supply is limited
The number of tickets is limited. As this is an experiment, no guarantee can be given that they will be issued for another season. My view, however, is that this is a move which will be welcomed by Liverpool fans who have often pressed the club to adopt this system.
Secretary Peter Robinson and his staff are likely to be very busy in the next week or so handling applications which I should imagine will exceed the number of tickets available.
