** Known for having the longest throw in’s (one arm) in Association football until the two hands rule came into practice in the mid-1890s.
** Three month’s prison sentence in October, 1906 (Blackpool) for neglecting and abandoning his two sons (Robert, 10; and Steven 8).
** Received a serious accident while working on the Liverpool docks and unloading a vessel in April, 1927. Billy fell down a big hold and smashed his face and body.
** He passed away at the Smithdown Hospital (Liverpool), in January, 1937, plagued by the injuries from the dock accident 10 years earlier.

Merits:
Lancashire Cup Winner: 1892-93 (Preston North End), 1896-97 (Everton).
