Willie Donnelly suspended by Belfast Celtic


Wednesday, November 6 – 1901
Quite a sensation was caused in Belfast football circles to-day when it leaked out that after the match between Belfast Celtic and Derry Celtic in Londonderry on Saturday, when the former was defeated by 3 goals to 2. A meeting of the Committee of Belfast Celtic was held, and four members of the team were suspended. These included Harry Nicholl and Jimmy Connor, two international players; Willie Donnelly, formerly of Glasgow Celtic, and John McAvoy, formerly of Grimsby Town.
