George Latham in the Army

George Latham, Newtown (Montgomeryshire), the famous Welsh International footballer, and for the last five years trainer of Cardiff City, has accepted a commission in the 3/7th Royal Welch Fusiliers.

Latham served eighteen years in the old Volunteers, going out with the “Dandy” Fifth South Wales Borderers to South Africa.

He played one season in Cape Town, taking part in England and Scotland international there. He was eight seasons with Liverpool, afterwards playing for Southport and Stoke.

He has seven International caps, and played in all three matches when Wales won the Championship.

He played for Cardiff the first time the Welsh Cup went to South Wales.
