At Anfield last evening Bootle boys won the W.R. Williams Memorial Cup, defeating the holders Liverpool, who have held the trophy for the past five seasons. The only goal was scored by Hoare, from a Jones pass early in the second half.
Morris, the Liverpool custodian, gave a fine display, and saved at least three point-blank shots. Patterson, the son of Mr. George Patterson, of the Liverpool Football Club, did his work well at right full back for Liverpool and made many grand clearances. Bell was also conspicuous for Bootle, as also was Higginbothan. The Mayor of Bootle (Alderman N. Cullen) presented the trophy to Bootle.
