Ellis Rimmer to coach Gibraltar

Friday, August 11 – 1939
Ellis Rimmer, the former Tranmere Rovers, Sheffield Wednesday, and England outside left, has accepted an appointment as coach to the Europa Club, Gibraltar. There were fifty applicants for the position. Ellis sails for “Gib” on the Rampura today, and will hold office until next March.

This is the first time an English coach has been appointed to Gibraltar, and it is understood that Rimmer will have a free hand, and apart from the coaching of players will confer with the officials as to the design of the new stand, bath, and dressing rooms for the Europa Club. Rimmer last season was with Ipswich Town.

The player was married yesterday to Miss Olive Singer, of Wallasey, at St. James’s Church, Birkenhead.
