Key note: “Chesterfield Reserves were defeated 2-1 by Liverpool Reserves on Saturday. The home team started at a swift pace, and Drury saved hard drives from Priday and Shannon. After ten minutes they were given the lead by Done, and Chesterfield should have equalised five minutes later, but Hill missed from close range. Liverpool increased their lead as the result of a header by Priday. In the second half Chesterfield retaliated strongly, and Hartley scored.” (Derbyshire Times and Chesterfield Herald: December 21, 1945)
