At a meeting of the directors of the Liverpool F.C. last night Mr. John Charles Rouse was appointed full secretary. For the last 21 years he has been assistant.
The chairman, Mr. Stanley Ronald Williams, announcing the appointment, said it was an indication of his own and the board’s complete confidence in the work Mr. Rouse has done and is doing.
Prior to joining Liverpool, Mr. Rouse was with the London and Lancashire Insurance Company, but his interest in football has always been topmost in the sports field. He was with Orrell Athletic when they rose in successive seasons from third to first division of the Zingari League. Later he was associated with Northern Nomads in the secretarial chair when they went to Sunderland in 1926 and won the Amateur Cup by a record score of 7-1.
Jack had a leaning towards Everton in his early days but these is no doubt as to where his preference lies now. The board also made another appointment. Once again Jack Balmer will captain the first eleven. No captain has been appointed for the second team no vice captain.
Mr. S.R. Williams was re-elected chairman with Mr. George Richards vice chairman. Mr. Williams said: “We are entering upon a new season and hope that playing results will improve and that the club get a break in the FA Cup.”
