Liverpool go a-sailing

August 24, 1920
In view of their arduous campaign Liverpool F.C. yesterday went their annual outing to Llandudno and neighbourhood. They had, as last year, a wet send-off, but later in the day the sun broke through the defence of the clouds, and a right royal time was spent by the players and officials of the club. A colleague who saw the lads said: “They are all very fit and enjoyed the toning-up process of the day. They are a very happy family, and the club can always be relied upon to get the best out of their members. Ephraim Longworth, after his South African journey, found the water nothing more than a duck pond. Some of the others, however, had some ominously quiet moments, when they were not thinking of the season’s outlook, but another outlook not nearly so bright.”
