Benefit match for Eddie Spicer

August 12, 1955
As they promised last season Liverpool have now earmarked a date to play a benefit match for Eddie Spicer, their former full back, whose career was cut short when he broke a leg 18 months ago.

Everton have willingly promised their co-operation, and the idea is to raise a near-international side of outstanding players from Lancashire clubs to oppose a combine Liverpool-Everton team. Managers Don Welsh and Cliff Britton will co-working together to make this a memorable occasion.

Further details will be given here later, but in the meantime please put the date down in your diary and keep it free. It is Monday evening, September 19 (six o’clock kick-off).
