Footballers will learn with regret of the death of Joseph Clegg, the ex-Bury half-back, at Blackburn yesterday. Clegg, it will be remembered, retired from the Bury first team the season before that club won the English Cup.
During his playing days the half-back line, composed of Pray, Clegg, and Ross, was famous throughout the country and did much to build up the Bury team.
Clegg had kept the Falcon Inn at Blackburn for some years, and intended to leave shortly in consequence of ill-health.
