Season preview 1927/28: Hamilton Academical F.C. (Athletic News)

Improvements have been effected on the ground of the ducal town club, the terracing having been strengthened and heightened at several points, while the low wall along the pitch on the popular side has been extended.

Several change are announced in the personnel of the side. J. Harris (goal); F. McKeary, C. Letham and J. Stewart (half-backs); and John Borland (forward) have not been re-engaged. The three first named are without a club, but Stewart has joined King’s Park, while Borland has been transferred to Charlton Athletic.

To date the players engaged number 14, and of these three are newcomers – R. Moreland, the ex-Queen’s Park half-back; Philip Watson, from Wishaw Juniors, who has done well for his club in several positions; and Robert Howe, an outside left from the well-known Glasgow junior club, Petershill. Another couple pf youngsters may be added to the list before the season opens.
